Pere says most BBNaija stars are living fake life

Pere Egbi, the former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate, has alleged that most of his colleagues are living “fake lifestyles”.
The reality star spoke about his colleagues’ alleged fake lifestyles when he appeared on the ‘Spill with Phyna’ podcast.

The podcast is anchored by Josephine Otabor, the BBNaija season 7 winner better known as Phyna.

During their chat, Pere argued that due to the pressure to maintain celebrity status, a lot of BBNaija stars “put themselves under unnecessary pressure and start competing”.

“Na BBN celebrities dey carry fake life for head. Because I feel like a lot of BBN housemates feel like they are not being recognised as celebrities, so you have to do extra to be recognised,” he said in a mixture of pidgin and English.

“It is a complex problem. I call it a complex problem because that individual has complex issues. You have to really believe that you are who you say you are. And you have to believe in yourself. The truth about it is that when people do not have these things in their minds, in their hearts, e go force you to Wan do extra things to prove to people sey you are like this or that.

“You do not need that. Just be you. Na wetin dey kill all these our colleagues in this Big Brother world.

“Some of them come out, especially those wey no win, you con see as the fame dey overnight, everybody just dey. Everybody just recognises your name. And you have never been there before.

“Then some of the other colleagues still in the same BBN, you feel people rate them pass you. You will feel like you have to do extra. You go dey see that person don dey get car, you no know wetin that person hustle way the motor come out.

“You put yourself under unnecessary pressure. You allow yourself sink into that thing. And then unknowingly you start competing. Before you know am you go con dey extra package yourself. You go con dey live fake life on top.”
