VGC Chairman Gihan Mbelu found dead in his car
The Lagos State Police Command said an investigation has commenced into the death of a man identified as Gihan Mbelu, the Chairman of Victoria Garden City in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
Reacting to a post by an X user Deji Lambo, who tweeted that the 42-year-old man, Gihan Mbelu, was found unconscious in his C300 4Matic car died, the Command’s Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident on Saturday, via his X handle, saying “Investigation has commenced into this.”
According to the post, “It was gathered that Mbelu was found unconscious around 10.10 am on Friday when people decided to inspect his vehicle which had been running for hours at the spot where it was parked around VGC, in the Ajah area of the state.
“Concerned by the discovery, some of the people in the area, upon close observation of the vehicle, found Mbelu in it.
“While some people speculated that the 42-year-old man might be sleeping, some other persons, who were bent on ascertaining Mbelu’s true state, reportedly made frantic efforts to wake him up but it proved abortive.”
Meanwhile, he was pronounced dead at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, and his body was deposited in the hospital’s morgue.
Following this, the case was reported to the police for an investigation to commence to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Mbelu’s death.
Confirming his authenticity as the chairman of VGC, an X user commenting on the post, Politicalmen007, wrote, “He’s the Chairman of VGC.”
Another X user, Dapsieb, mentioned that “Shocking news. Heard he was quite active as Chairman, VGC Residents Association.”
