Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from police custody after being detained on allegations of defamation against popular musician Davido.
The release, which occurred on August 29, 2024, was confirmed by social media personality Verydarkman (VDM) through an Instagram post.
The post featured a video of Dammy Krane expressing his gratitude to VDM for his support.
In the caption, VDM thanked Davido for honoring his request to release Dammy Krane within four hours, stating, “Dammykrane is out, dear @davido as you have honored me by listening to my plea and granting my request in less than 4hrs God will honor you.” He further expressed hope that Dammy Krane would focus on his music and allow his talent to shine, thanking Davido for his compassion.

Dammy Krane’s release follows a public appeal by VDM on August 28, 2024, where he recounted an encounter at a police station.
During his visit to thank the officers for their assistance, VDM learned of Dammy Krane’s detention from a man who claimed to have seen the singer with dreadlocks in a cell.
