Wigwe University marked a significant milestone on November 14, 2024, by hosting its inaugural matriculation ceremony at its campus in Isiokpo, Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State. The event, held nearly a month after the institution began academic activities, was a tribute to the legacy of its late founder, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, former CEO of Access Bank.
The university commenced operations approximately 240 days after Dr. Wigwe’s tragic passing, welcoming its first cohort of students to fulfill his vision of quality education. To formally welcome the new students, the institution organized this historic matriculation ceremony.
A notable moment from the event was captured by an attendee, Kio Lawson, who shared a touching photo on Facebook. The image featured the late Herbert Wigwe’s parents, Pastors Shyngle and Stella Wigwe, alongside his daughter, Tochi Wigwe, seated in the front row. Lawson captioned the photo:
