Rose Idibia, the mother of Nigerian music icon 2Baba, has publicly pleaded with his fiancée, Natasha Osawaru, to release him, sparking controversy online.
Her emotional appeal comes just 24 hours after 2Baba, whose real name is Innocent Idibia, proposed to Osawaru, a lawmaker from Edo State. The proposal, which followed his highly publicized divorce from Annie Idibia, has sent social media into a frenzy.
In a viral video making rounds, Mrs. Idibia expressed concerns over her son’s state of mind, insisting that he is “not in his right senses.” She attributed his actions to emotional distress from the divorce and suggested that supernatural influences might be at play.
Calling on Nigerian mothers to intervene, she urged Natasha to “free” 2Baba by removing the mysterious beads he now wears on his hand and neck.

“Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2Baba. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son.
My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses. I know my son well. This is not him.
Please, Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and neck, remove them and free him.”
2Baba officially announced his separation from longtime wife Annie Idibia in January, a move that has drawn significant backlash. Many fans have criticized him, labeling his recent engagement as “insensitive.”
