She got pregnant at 40, but the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage after doctors discovered the baby was positioned behind her womb. The heartbreak led to serious marital issues and eventually divorce.
She painfully recalled how just two weeks after leaving her husband’s home, he brought in a pregnant woman, leaving her devastated. The trauma drove her to drinking — something she said she had never done before.
Despite undergoing two failed IVF attempts, Dupe remained hopeful. She also spoke about raising many other children — including those of her younger sister — but lamented that they no longer check on her.
“I haven’t had a child of my own to celebrate me, not even for my 60th birthday,” she said.
“So many children I took care of don’t even look back to check on me.”
Still, she holds on to her father’s advice never to fight over property, money, or men — and believes firmly that as long as there’s life, there’s hope.
