Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya, has revealed that God instructed him not to cut his dreadlocks, saying the divine directive was linked to saving a life.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Pastor Odukoya disclosed that he sought divine clarity on his appearance before assuming full pastoral responsibilities following the death of his father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, in August 2023.
“One of the things I asked the Lord before I came back was whether I should cut my hair or not,” he said. “And He told me not to cut my hair.”
To confirm the message, he asked his sister to pray about it. She returned with the same response: he was not supposed to cut his hair.
Odukoya shared a powerful testimony of a woman from Zimbabwe who travelled to Nigeria specifically to attend his church service. She told him that she had a vivid vision back in 2016, while in New York, of a man with long hair preaching and declaring over her life.
“She said she had no idea who I was then. Years later, after going through a divorce, losing her home, and watching her mother die in her arms, she turned to YouTube for spiritual guidance. That’s when she stumbled on my preaching and saw the man from her vision — me, with long hair,” Odukoya recounted.
What stood out to him was that he didn’t have long hair when the woman received the vision in 2016, but God, knowing the future, had already orchestrated the moment.
“God told me to keep my hair for a reason. If I had cut it, that moment of divine confirmation wouldn’t have happened. God was preserving my appearance to save a life,” he explained.
