The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA 2025) was a major win for Nollywood, with Femi Adebayo’s film Seven Doors taking center stage. The historical drama earned two of the most coveted honors of the night — Best Lead Actor for Femi Adebayo and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka — establishing Seven Doors as one of the most talked-about Nigerian productions of the year.
Directed by Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo, Seven Doors is a compelling Nigerian historical drama series. The storyline follows King Adedunjoye, a reluctant ruler battling a generational curse. To break it, he must marry six additional wives — opening the symbolic “seven doors” — even as he remains deeply in love with his first wife, Amaka. The series explores deep cultural themes such as tradition, sacrifice, and destiny.
Held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the star-studded AMVCA 11 celebrated excellence in African film and television, bringing together top actors, filmmakers, and creatives from across the continent. Legendary actors Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh received Lifetime Achievement Awards, while visionary director Kayode Kasum was honored with the Trailblazer Award for his groundbreaking contributions to the industry.
Another major highlight was Lateef Adedimeji’s film Lisabi (The Uprising), which won multiple awards, further demonstrating the depth and creativity of Nigerian storytelling.
