Popular Nigerian comedian and staunch Tinubu supporter, Seyi Law, has once again stirred the waters of social media, this time with a candid reaction to the backlash trailing nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest’s recent visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Taking to social media, Seyi Law did not mince words as he called out what he described as widespread hypocrisy among Nigerians—particularly those who condemn public figures for associating with the President, only to seek private access behind closed doors.

In his words:

“They come online to pander to the mob but are hustling behind. God will judge all our hypocrisy.”

Seyi Law’s comment comes on the heels of viral photos showing Cubana Chief Priest in the company of President Tinubu—images that quickly sparked outrage and divided opinions online. While some netizens accused the celebrity barman of dining with the powers that be in a time of economic hardship, Seyi Law says he finds the outrage amusing.

He went further to throw light on the double standards of some influencers, singling out music promoter and Instagram celebrity Tunde Ednut:

“People saw Cubana Chief Priest with the President, and they are shouting while I am just laughing. Let Tunde Ednut come and deny that he was not excited when Mr. President called him on his birthday. He was calling people in Nigeria, that he couldn’t believe it.”

Seyi Law’s post has reignited the ongoing debate about celebrity involvement in politics and the expectations of public figures in turbulent times. While some supporters applauded his boldness and honesty, others called him out for what they perceived as selective outrage and divisiveness.

As the conversation around Nigeria’s political climate and celebrity accountability continues, one thing is clear—Seyi Law is not backing down from defending his stance, no matter how unpopular it may be.

What do you think—Is Seyi Law right to call out the hypocrisy, or should celebrities be held to a different standard in times like these?
