In a move that has sparked significant political conversation, former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has publicly declared her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at a public event, Dame Patience affirmed her readiness to campaign alongside the current First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, noting that her support is rooted in appreciation and loyalty.

“I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not denying her. I’m not going back to the villa. If you call me, I will not go,” she stated emphatically.

Dame Patience went further to explain that during the 2011 presidential election, both Oluremi Tinubu and her husband, then Governor Bola Tinubu, stood by Goodluck Jonathan, offering support that she has not forgotten.

“Oluremi and President Tinubu supported my husband, Jonathan, during the 2011 election,” she added.

Her endorsement of Tinubu’s second-term bid is seen by many as a significant political alignment, particularly given her past role as First Lady during the PDP-led administration. Her remarks suggest a rare moment of bipartisan gratitude and personal conviction in Nigeria’s often heated political landscape.

With the 2027 election campaigns beginning to take shape, Dame Patience’s position may influence a segment of the electorate, especially among her loyal supporters.
