The owners of Air India have announced financial compensation for the families of passengers who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash that occurred on June 12, 2025.
The incident involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which was en route to London from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the loss of many lives and sparking widespread grief across the country and beyond.
In a recent statement, the airline’s owners revealed that they would offer 10 million rupees (approximately £86,000) to the families of each deceased passenger as part of the compensation package.
The move is part of an ongoing effort to support the grieving families and provide some form of relief in the aftermath of the tragedy. While the gesture has been acknowledged, many are still calling for a full investigation into the crash to determine the exact cause and prevent future occurrences.
The Indian government, along with aviation authorities, has launched an inquiry, and safety experts are working to gather information from the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder.
As the nation mourns the lives lost, this compensation is one step in what will likely be a long and emotional road to healing for the affected families.
