Jessie J Diagnosed with Early Breast Cancer

Jessie J has been diagnosed with cancer. The English singer and songwriter took to Instagram to make the announcement in an emotional video post, whose caption read: “No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called ‘Living my breast life’? All jokes aside (you know it’s one of the ways I get through hard times). [These] last 2 months have been so amazing, and having this go on alongside it on the sidelines has given me the most incredible perspective. But your girl needs a hug…” In the video, posted on the social media app on Tuesday, June 3, the 37-year-old expressed that she had been “going back and forth” about whether to reveal her diagnosis. Even though she wanted to let her fans and followers know about her situation, she was apprehensive about the “opinions outside”.

“I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also I’m a sharer. I’ve always shared everything that I go through in my life. Before ‘No Secrets‘ came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” the singer, who welcomed her son Sky Safir Cornish Colman in 2023, mentioned.

“One, because selfishly, I do not talk about it enough,” she said, adding: “I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories.”

Naturally, it is heartbreaking for her, but Jessie, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, said that she realises that so many people in the world are going through so much “similar and worse”. She mentioned that her diagnosis was not something she had planned, but she would be “getting to keep [her] nipples”. “It is a weird topic.”

The singer intends to “disappear” and plan her surgery after her performance at the Summertime Ball, which is a festival at the Wembley Stadium in London; it is scheduled for later this month.
