Music executive and talent manager Ubi Franklin has broken his silence following allegations that recently surfaced online about him stealing a wristwatch at Davido and Chioma’s white wedding in Miami.
In a statement he released on Wednesday, August 13, Ubi stated that he was aware of the recent circulation on social media linking his name to an alleged theft, stating that the allegations were completely false and misleading.
He recalled how Davido’s jeweler, Benny, offered to sell a wristwatch to him, which he decided against purchasing after reviewing it and confirming its previous ownership.
“I decided not to purchase it in order to avoid any potential complications,” Ubi said.
The talent manager, however, disclosed that during the wedding, Benny sent his brother with another wristwatch to him, which he (Ubi) purchased and paid in full.
“Given the busy circumstances surrounding the wedding, I was in possession of both wristwatches and wore the one he sent to me through his brother. After the wedding, I had to leave Miami immediately to finalize my sister’s funeral coming up this weekend. While airborne, I was contacted by Benny regarding the other wristwatch,” he said.
Ubi debunked the theft allegation against him, stating that he had never stolen from anyone in his life.
