House Of Reps Member Urges Mercy for Nnamdi Kanu

Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives, has called for clemency for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu following his life imprisonment sentence.

The plea was made during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Kanu was found guilty on seven counts of terrorism.

Representing the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency in Abia State, Aguocha urged the court to consider mercy alongside justice, emphasizing the need for national stability.

“My lord, I plead for mercy, I plead for clemency, and I appeal for peace and stability not just in the South East, but in Nigeria. Nigeria is bleeding, and we must find common solutions to our common problems,” he said.

Aguocha, who has consistently attended the court proceedings as Kanu’s representative in the National Assembly, added: “I plead for the lord to show mercy and temper justice with mercy. I am a friend of the court, and I appreciate the opportunity to address you.”

This appeal highlights ongoing discussions around justice, clemency, and the pursuit of peace in Nigeria, particularly in the South East region.
