It’s rare to find three brothers dominating the Afrobeats scene at the same time — but that’s exactly what the Uzama brothers have achieved.
Shallipopi, Zerry DL, and Famous Pluto are proof that talent can run deep in one family, even in a highly competitive industry like Nigerian music.
The eldest brother, Shallipopi, fully understands the magnitude of this moment. Celebrating his brothers’ rise on X, he boldly credited himself for opening the doors they now walk through. He even embraced the nickname their fans gave them — “The Migows.”
Just as American hip-hop once celebrated the iconic trio, The Migos, Nigerian fans coined a playful twist for the Uzamas: The Migows — a term rooted in South-South street culture.
What started as a joke, or even light mockery, has now become a badge of honour for the brothers. Shallipopi proudly wears it as he continues to sit at the peak of the Nigerian music industry, with Zerry DL and Famous Pluto gaining ground right behind him.
Shallipopi’s explosive breakout in 2023 with his EP “Planet Pluto” marked the beginning of a new sound. Blending Amapiano energy with raw Benin City lingo, he delivered hits like ‘Obapluto,’ ‘Elon Musk,’ ‘Ex-Convict,’ and ‘Shapiru.’
His storytelling resonated deeply with listeners from the South-South to the South-West — a sound both streetwise and proudly rooted in Benin culture.
Driven by hunger and unmatched creativity, he pushed even further:
-
Released Presido La Pluto in November 2023
-
Scored a viral smash with ‘Cast’ featuring Odumodublvck
-
Dropped Shakespopi, a nine-track project featuring ‘Billions’, which spotlighted his rising protégés
From Lagos clubs to Benin backstreets and global stages like Afronation, Shallipopi built a movement. And that movement became the platform on which his brothers now stand.
Shallipopi didn’t just craft a sound — he built an empire.
In October 2023, he announced Plutomania Records, his imprint under Dapper Music, created to elevate new talent from his region. One of his first signees was his brother, Zerrydl.
What’s better than two hit-making brothers? Three.
The youngest Uzama, Famous Pluto, began with a cameo on Outsyd DJ’s ‘Feel The Mood’. But his real breakthrough came in March 2025 through his electrifying debut single ‘Na Scra’.
His debut EP, Uzama The Third, proved that the family magic wasn’t running out anytime soon. His sound mirrors the street-infused, party-ready blueprint set by his brothers, and his smash hit ‘Ewo’ — featuring all three Uzamas — offered a powerful preview of what a joint project could be.
Nigerian music has witnessed legendary groups from The Remedies to Styl Plus, Plantashun Boiz, Mo’Hits, and Choc Boiz. Now, the Uzamas — The Migows — are positioning themselves to be the next iconic trio.
And in a world where credit is rarely given, Shallipopi deserves his flowers. He didn’t just break into the industry; he created a lane, designed a sound, built a platform, and opened the door wide enough for his brothers to walk through confidently.
