23-year-old Super Falcons & Dalian Quanjian FC forward, Asisat Oshoala, went home with her third award at the 2017 African Footballer of the Year award ceremony which held in Ghana last night. The player who won her third female African Player of the Year award was filled with emotions while giving her acceptance speech. According to her:
“It’s really been an emotional journey through 2017, I must say this is one of the personal moment in my career because when I left Arsenal and moved to China a lot of people said that Asisat your career is going to be gone. But I told myself that I can do this. And I think I have done it,” she added.
Asisat who completed a hat trick by winning the award three times in a row gave this advice to young African Girls. She said:
“I want to use this opportunity to encourage all the young girls do not let anyone talk you down, don’t listen to anyone. follow your heart.”
The powerful striker who was pictured with NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick, Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode and former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the event, also showed off her third award via Instagram.
