Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been convicted over the killing of two endangered blackbuck antelope back in 1998. Khan and seven other actors including Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were accused of killing a blackbuck and a chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998, during the filming of the movie Hum Saath Saath Hain.
Khan was the only one convicted however, as the others all walked free. It was claimed that in September 1998 Khan hunted down the animals in the Kankani village of Rajasthan; in October 1998 Khan was arrested in the connection with the poaching of endangered animals, and subsequently granted bail.
Salman Khan was in court for the verdict in what is known to be his “lucky” black shirt. His lawyers are pleading for a lesser sentence. If he is sent to jail for less than three years, he can apply for bail.
