A footballer told police ‘I’m a millionaire, just fine me, I don’t give a f***’ when he was caught drink driving, a court heard.

An arrest warrant for James Hurst, a former West Brom player, has been issued after he failed to turn up for a trial at Llandudno magistrates’ court in north Wales, on Thursday. Police Constable Sam Smith told the court: ‘He stated “I’m a millionaire, I will take the ban and pay the fine. I don’t give a f***.” ‘I would describe his attitude as arrogant. He showed no remorse for what he had been arrested for.’

PC Anita Hickish said Hurst also insisted ‘I’m a star’ and told police to ‘Google him’. She added that when police gave the 26-year-old his alcohol print out, he told them: ‘You can sell that.’ Hurst was convicted of driving a Ford Focus over the limit along Wrexham high street while being drunk and disorderly on December 17. Police were alerted about the incident when his car was spotted in the wrong direction down a one-way system.
