The Imo State Police Command has identified the naval officer who allegedly killed a youth corps member, Emeka Amadi, at a checkpoint along the Owerri-Umuahia road on May 26, 2018.
The command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, disclosed this to Southern City News on Tuesday.
Enwerem, who did not disclose the name of the naval officer, said, “The officer is currently going through naval departmental processes. It is after the processes that he will be handed over to the police for more investigations.”
The late Amadi, who hailed from Umukwe in Ndiegbelu, Awaka in Owerri North Local Government Area of the state and serving in Aba, Abia State, was reportedly killed on May 26 by a naval team at a checkpoint along the Owerri-Umuahia road.
It was alleged that the naval team connived with some members of the Umukwe community, identified as New Face of Umukwe to deal with the youths of the village.
Amadi was a graduate of Philosophy from the Imo State University in Owerri.
