Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho said the team has learnt some lesson from participating at the 2018 World Cup, stating that the Eagles will be back and better at the Qatar 2022 tournament.
Iheanacho starred for Nigeria in the painful 2-1 loss to Argentina in the final game in Group D. A draw would have seen the Super Eagles through to the next round. The Leicester City man did not have a good game and coach Gernot Rohr admitted later that he was not fully fit for the game.
‘’I think it was a good experience at the World Cup. We didn’t get the chance to go through but I think it was a good experience for us as a young team,’’ Iheanacho told LCFC TV.
‘’I’m looking forward to the next World Cup. We’re back and ready now.’’
Iheanacho’s scored a late goal in their 2-1 loss to Udinese yesterday, but it was not enough to inspire a comeback as Puel’s side suffered their first defeat of pre-season. Leicester will face Valencia at the King Power Stadium next, on Wednesday, before the final friendly against Lille in France next weekend.
