Singer, Simi lands movie role in Kunle Afolayan’s new film (Photos)
Top singer, Simi is set to make her acting debut as she has just signed a contract to play a role whose character holds a significant part in the movie plot.
Nigerian singing sensation, Simisola Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi, who has released many hit singles such as ‘Jamb Question’ and ‘Smile’, has ventured into the movie industry as she is set to star in a new Nollywood film.
The singer took to her Instagram and announced that she has accepted a role in Kunle Afolayan’s upcoming movie titled ‘Mokalik’. She also share a video of herself with the talented movie maker.
Meanwhile, the multi award-winning producer who was also excited for the prospect of working with the singer, revealed that the contract was signed and sealed on Sunday, August 26.
On his Instagram post, he revealed that Simi said yes after going through the script for week. The singer had also expressed in her post that the script is one she is happy to partake in.
It was gathered that the script is about an 11-year-old who spends the day as a lowly apprentice at a mechanic workshop in order to view life from the other side of the tracks.
‘Mokalik’, an all-Yoruba cast movie will star Simi, Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Faithia Balogun Williams, Wale Akorede Okunnu, Alabi Yellow (Dayo Akinpelue) and Papi Lolo (Ayo Ogunshina).
The movie is Nollywood’s first single-location shoot.
