Residents of Egbeda in Emouha Local Government Area of Rivers State have fled from their homes over the killing of a suspected cult leader, Mathias Igwe-Wordu.

Sources said Wordu was shot by rival cult gang members in the area during a clash.

The chairman of Egbeda Community Development Committee,  Ukwoha Omereji, confirmed the incident yesterday, saying security had been beefed up in the community.

He asked the residents who had fled to return, assuring that  adequate security had been put in place to protect their lives and property.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nnamdi Omoni could not confirm the story as of the time of filing this report.
