A 53-year old married man, Mr. Felix Idehen, has been arrested after he was caught having sex with his neighbour’s 11-year old daughter at Imagbon Street in Fadeyi area of Lagos where they reside.
The romp was said to have lasted for over four hours before they were eventually caught by their neighbours who raised alarm, forced him to open the door and rescued the victim.
Mr. Idehen was said to have returned from work in the afternoon when his family and the victim’s parents were not around and lured the victim into his apartment. He reportedly locked the door from inside, confused the 11-year old victim with words of mouth, lured her into bed and forcefully penetrated her.
However, while he was still in the act that lasted for several hours, the neighbours suspected and started knocking at the door. He eventually opened the door and the victim came out claiming that he forced her to do it.
He was handed over to the police who transferred the matter to the Gender Section of the Command.
The police alleged that the suspect lured the victim into his apartment when the wife and members of the family were not around, forcefully removed her pant and raped her. It was gathered that the 11-year old victim did not put up resistance because he had already intimidated and warned her not to raise alarm which she did not resist out of fear.
However, when her parents returned from work and heard about what happened, the matter was reported to the police and Idehen was arrested.
The police found the suspect culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates court before the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka.
The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court that it was a forceful penetration of the victim who was a minor and she got injured in her private part.
The court denied him bail and did not take his plea because of the nature of the offence.
The court ordered him to be remanded in prison custody and ordered the prosecutor, Mr. John, to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 7th September, 2018 while waiting for the report of the DPP advice to be available.
It was gathered that Mr. Idehen may spend a good number of years in prison if the DPP finds him culpable; he is tried and convicted because of the offence.
