A little girl has spent nearly two years caring for her dad alone after he was paralyzed in a car accident. Jia Jia, six, wakes up at 6am every morning to massage dad Tian Haicheng’s muscles for half an hour. She then brushes his teeth and washes his face before she goes to school. After returning, the youngster feeds her father dinner and helps him move around their home in Ningxia Province, northern China.
When she is at school, her elderly grandparents look after 40-year-old Tian. ‘Looking after my dad, I don’t feel tired at all,’ Jia Jia said. Tian was left paralysed from the chest down after a taxi he took crashed into a ditch at a high speed in March 2016, Yangtzi Evening News reports. His wife of seven years – Jia Jia’s mum – suddenly abandoned them just two and a half months later. She took their eldest son with them.
When asked if she missed her mother, Jia Jia said: ‘No, because she doesn’t look after dad. But I miss my brother. I used to be very close to him. I miss him.’ Tian has more than 480,000 followers on Kuaishou, one of China’s live-streaming apps. He uses it to document his daughter’s selfless work.
