I still remember the feeling of fear and despair when I found out I was pregnant. People think fear doesn’t smell, well I can tell you it does. What was I going to say, I was pregnant for a brother in church and I’m in the choir. I hadn’t even considered what I’ll tell my minister parents, the preacher’s daughter is pregnant.
When I met my supposed boyfriend to tell him, his . was priceless. I could feel the anger in the air, the screaming rang in my ears for days, he denied my baby. When I insisted it was his, he told the whole church I was a whore and I’d slept with a lot of guys.
I was about 3 months pregnant when my friend introduced me to a friend who lived outside the country. Apparently, she had told him everything and made me into a saint. He got my number and we started talking, next thing I know we’re dating. About a few months before I gave birth, my knight in shining armour bought me a car because he didn’t want his child in the sun.
I gave birth to a son, a baby boy that looked exactly like the father that denied him. It was laughable that his lies came to stare him in the face. Everyone laughed and told him how the child looked exactly like him, but he kept denying it. It didn’t bother me though, I had an amazing fiance who loved me.
My fiance came to do my bridal rights after I gave birth, and when the church hesitated we went to my parents’ church. We got married a few months after our son was born and we’ve been grateful to God ever since. I am especially grateful to God because where people saw waste, he saw beauty.
Ademola is my husband, the father of my son, my knight in shining armour. You are more than I could have ever prayed for or dreamed of, and for that, I will spend every day loving you.
