Enyimba goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda, is disappointed with their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup but hopes the lesson learnt from the competition will help the team in future, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant fell to a 2-1 defeat tov Morocco’s Raja Casablanca in the second leg of their semi-final fixture at the Complexe Sportif Mohamed V, Casablanca.
The Aba giants crashed out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate after going down to a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the Enyimba International Stadium Aba.
Zakaria Hadraf opened scoring for the hosts in the 45th minute of the encounter capitalising on poor defending by Isiaka Oladuntoye
Isiaka Oladuntoye conceded an own goal two minutes from time to compound his side’s woes.
Substitute Abdulrahman Bashir however pulled a goal back for the visitors a minute later.
The former Black Stars of Ghana goalkeeper also took time to thank the team’s supporters for standing behind the team all through the competition.
“End of the road for us in the CAF Confederation Cup, this is where Allah (God) want us to reach. We did our best though our best wasn’t enough, we couldn’t get to the ultimate but we say ALHAMDULILAAH! Lesson learnt Thanks to those who supported us from day one. ??,” tweeted on his Twitter handle.
