Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will hope to make last out of cup competition when they visit Burton Albion
We are approaching the business end of action in English domestic football’s first cup competition of the season – the League Cup. And this coming Tuesday night (30 October) will see two ties take place with a spot in the quarter-finals at stake, with Bournemouth hosting Championship outfit Norwich City, and Nottingham Forest heading to Burton Albion.
First things first
Before you go any further, head on over to the Oddsshark website, find your favourite betting site and get your account up and running using your credit card. As a new customer and with the last eight almost in sight in the EFL Cup, there should be a wide range of promotions and special offers available to you.
Where should I be investing my money?
First up, Premier League outfit Bournemouth welcome Norwich City to town. The Cherries sit sixth in the standings and are on a five match unbeaten match across all competitions, meaning that coach Eddie Howe’s players can come into this match brimming with confidence.
They are up against a side, however, who have started putting their own run of form together. Norwich are currently fourth in the EFL Championship table, just two points off the top and have won their last three league matches in a row.
These two sides have not met for close to three years – the last time was in January 2016 – but it was Bournemouth who were victorious on that occasion, emerging with a 3-0 win. And given they are the technically stronger side, this is a game that Bournemouth really should be winning.
You can back the home side to win inside 90 minutes at just 1.61, while Norwich are out at 5.50 to do the same – a draw is priced in the middle at 3.80. You can also bet simply on who will qualify, with Bournemouth at 1.36 to progress and Norwich at 3.00, according to Oddsshark.
A 2-1 win for Bournemouth is priced at 8.00, meaning that a US$5 bet would lead to a US$40 pay out. In addition, you could more than triple your money by backing a combo bet of a Bournemouth win and both teams to score, which comes in at 3.50 – Bournemouth’s veteran striker, Jermain Defoe, is at 2.10 to get on the score sheet at any time during the match.
Nigel Clough looking to upset old club Forest
On the same night, Nigel Clough and his Burton Albion side host Nottingham Forest, with the manager looking to get one over on his old employers. Albion’s recent form has been disappointing to say the least, however, and the club sit 16th in League One – the third tier – having won just one of their last four matches on home soil.
Forest, in stark contrast, find themselves in good form of late and are in seventh place in the Championship, just two points outside the pay-off spots. The side has also won its last two matches on the road without conceding a goal and can come into this match confident of progressing at the expense of an out of sorts Burton outfit.
These two sides have only ever met on four previous occasions but it is Forest who boast the slightly better record in the head to head. The Nottingham club have won two of those encounters, with Burton winning one and the other match ending in a stalemate – however, we are fully expecting Forest to add to their tally come Tuesday night.
You can more than double your money by backing Forest to win this tie inside 90 minutes at 2.15, with Burton, despite home advantage, at 3.40 to do the same – a draw comes in just under at 3.30. Again, you can make a simply bet based solely on who will progress, with Forest at just 1.66 to do so, while Burton are priced at 2.10.
A comfortable, 2-0 win for the visitors is priced competitively at 10.00, thereby offering a ten-fold return on any investment. In addition, you could double your money by backing a “No” to both teams scoring at 2.00, and you can almost quadruple your stakes by backing Forest to win to nil (without scoring a goal) at a price of 3.75.
Lewis Grabban is at the shortest odds to find the back of the net, and is at just 2.30 to score. You can also back him, at 5.00, to score either the first or the last goal of the contest.
