Meet Britain’s fattest dog that doesn’t fit in a kennel

This is Britain’s fattest dog, Big Bopper The Whopper. He’s so massive he doesn’t even fit in a kennel, and now shelter staff at Gables Farm Dogs and Cats are concerned for his health. The Collie, named ‘Big Bopper The Whopper’, weighs a staggering 50kg (7 stone), which is 10kg heavier than ‘Hattie the Fattie’, who hit headlines earlier this year after being rescued by the same centre in Plymouth, Devon

Bopper ended up in the shelter after he was handed in by the RSPCA when his owner got seriously ill. Staff say Bopper has calluses forming on his elbows from constantly lying down as he finds walking painful due to his ‘advanced years and sheer size’. He is also suffering from an ear infection, is in need of dental treatment and is beginning to develop cataracts. He is at a ‘very high risk’ of developing diabetes due to his weight and will have to have his blood taken regularly to monitor his sugar levels, the charity said.
