Zlatan Ibrahimovic is confident he would have dominated the Premier League if he had arrived a decade ago. The Swedish superstar, 37, joined Man Utd from PSG in 2016 towards the end of his stellar career.
Recapping on his two-year spell at United, Zlatan said: “It was fun playing in the Premier League.
“And now, having played there, I can tell it like it is: the quality is exaggerated but the pace and tempo are maxed out.
“Had I been ten years younger and gone to the Premier League I would’ve had them for breakfast, now it ended up being lunch instead.”
Ibrahimovic reveals in a new book that he moved to LA Galaxy this year after telling Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho he couldn’t give him 100% following his return from knee surgery.
He says when he met his Old Trafford teammates for the first time only Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick had a winners’ mentality.
Yet he reserves considerable praise for striker partner Marcus Rashford, who is backing to become a football legend.
Ibrahimovic said: “When I saw him play the first time I could tell straight away that here we had something unique in English football.
“Because he’s really nothing like a typical English player, he has a different style, which is precisely why he’s going to break the traditional English way of playing.
“He’s still young though, and needs to shoulder more responsibility. Under Mourinho he will grow to reach the levels he’s capable of.”
