5 Times You Shouldn’t Make The First Move

0

There’s nothing wrong with making the first move in a relationship. In fact, it can be liberating and empowering to take charge of your love life this way.

However, there are instances where making the first move will very likely not give you the results you need. And it’s probably better to keep it moving in this case.

1. When he isn’t single

Having the confidence to shoot your shot does not give you the carte blanche to go after a dude with a wedding ring on his finger or when you know he’s in a relationship. Frankly, that’s rude and inappropriate. Wouldn’t you rather save those moves for someone that will appreciate them?

2. He’s interested in someone else

Perhaps he has told you he’s into your friend, for instance, or you know he’s trying to shoot his shot with a colleague at work. This isn’t the guy to hit on. Even if he agrees, you will always find yourself wondering if you’re the backup choice.

3. You’re not looking for a relationship

While making the first move, you have to be honest with the guy. If you want a casual fling, express that up-front rather than telling him you have romantic feelings for him. Imagine how heartbroken he’ll be if you get his hopes up that you want something real and it turns out you just want to fool around. Basically, if you know he’s the relationship type, keep it moving.

4. When you know he isn’t into you

Maybe you’ve hinted at dating him before and he wasn’t enthusiastic. Or you have other reasons to believe he just isn’t interested in you that way. Don’t put yourself in an awkward position by making the first move. Respect his choices.

5. He’s just coming out of a relationship

It’s not really the smartest thing to ask out a guy who’s just coming out of a relationship especially if you have strong feelings for him. Give him time to get over his breakup or you risk getting heartbroken.

Making that first move can be so much fun though. Here are some great tips on how to shoot your shot on social media.
