Want the ultimate kiss-proof lipstick hacks for your smooching holiday season? *wink
It can be really messy hugging or kissing someone and having your lipstick come off your lips and end up all over their face. Of course, if you’re home or behind closed doors, it might not matter if your lipstick stays on or not. But if you’re out partying, you probably don’t want to leave any tell-tale signs that you’ve been locking lips with anyone. So let’s show you how to keep your lipsticks from transferring when you kiss.
Moisturize
Apply a thin layer of lip balm or Vaseline to your lips. But don’t just apply it, work it in by rubbing your lips together for about 20 seconds. This would prime your lips and soften it. Also, you’re going to wear a lip stain which dries out the lips so this step would help to minimize that.
Exfoliate your lips
This is an important step because in general lipsticks don’t last on flaky lips. So use an old toothbrush, with a home-made scrub and gently exfoliate your lips.
Use a lip pencil
Fill in your entire lips with a lip pencil the same colour as your lipstick. It would provide the first layer of colour for your lipstick to stick to and also help it stay on longer.
Use a lip stain or matte lipstick
Lip stains have very good staying power but if you don’t have one then you can use a matte lipstick. Apply a coat of your lip stain or matte lipstick to your lips and rub your lips together to push it in and evenly distribute the colour. Then press your lips firmly together with one ply of tissue in between. This will remove the moisture from the lipstick, but retain the pigment. Do this two or three times until most of the moisture is gone. You can apply another coat of lip stain and blot again with tissue.
Voila! You’ve successfully kiss-proofed your lipstick. Now, no matter how deep or wet those kisses get, your lip colour is staying put.
