Five accused persons were today, Wednesday, arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrate Court, Isabo, Ogun state, for an alleged complicity in the murder of a Customs officer.
The accused persons, Taiwo Oyedele 29; Onifade Jamie, 21; Kunle Soderu, 25; Soji Soderu, 30 and Sunday Oloyede, 28, have, however been ordered to be remanded in prison custody by the presiding Magistrate, T. O. Obasanjo, while awaiting a legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Prosecuting Counsel, B.G Emenike, read the charges to the accused persons, who pleaded not guilty, after which he narrated to the court how they (accused persons) attacked Customs operatives at Asero Kampala Market area on January, 6, 2019, killing one Customs Assistant 1, Hamisu Sani, using such dangerous weapons as cutlass and gun.
According to the prosecutor, one John Michel, an Inspector of Customs, also sustained serious injuries during the attack.
While ordering their remand, the Magistrate, however, adjourned the case till March 22, 2019 for mentioning
