An off-duty police officer was shot dead in the stomach during a “Russian Roulette gunfire” game with a colleague, detectives say.Katlyn Alix, 24, died in hospital after the shooting in the early hours of Thursday morning at a house in St Louis, Missouri, US.
Now, her colleague Nathaniel R. Hendren, 29, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action.
Police are investigating claims the pair were playing a game in which they’d point a revolver with one round in the chamber at each other and then pull the trigger.
“This is a devastating incident for Katlyn Alix’s husband, family, parents and for our entire community,” said Kimberly M. Gardner, the St Louis circuit attorney.
“I will hold people accountable regardless of their profession, public status or station in life. “As much as it saddens my staff and me to file these charges, Katlyn and her family deserve justice,” he told local press.
The Army veteran’s death was first treated as accidental until new evidence emerged on Friday.
But police are yet to reveal what updates these are.
