A 29 year old suspect (pictured) was arrested for robbery and possession of heroine. According to reports, the suspect was nabbed by members of Reaction Unit South Africa on Groom Street in the Verulam CBD yesterday (Monday).
At approximately 12:14, a Reaction Officer was on patrol on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD when he was flagged down by a 65 year old woman requesting assistance after two individuals robbed her of her hand bag containing her identity book & cash.
The RUSA Officer went in search of the suspects and located them seated next to a demolished building on Groom Street. When the suspects noticed the approaching Officer they fled however one suspect was apprehended.
Upon searching him two capsules containing heroin was found in his pocket. He claimed that the drugs belonged to his accomplice who fled with the elderly woman’s valuables.
