The Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said that people who are infected with coronavirus but not showing symptoms of the disease are difficult to keep in isolation centres.
The NCDC boss said this in Abuja on Thursday during a briefing of the Presidential Task Force of COVID-19, adding that no preferential treatment was being given to those in isolation.
He said, “When you are physically well and still infected, it makes it difficult to stay in a room. We urge them to use their phones to make contact with their families and friends.
“Some arrangements are being made to allow them to come out to get fresh air under controlled circumstances so that they can bear the period until they test negative.
“There is no defining period of isolation; you just have to stay until your test comes negative. It is a very challenging period and we call on family members and friends to keep encouraging them through the period.”
