Veteran  Fuji Musician Alhaji Sawaba, Is Dead

Veteran Nigerian Fuji musician, Alhaji Iyanda Isiaka Sawaba is dead. It was gathered that the Fuji maestro died at 71.

Some days ago, Sawaba was hospitalised at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Oyo State after suffering a partial stroke.

The renowned musician reportedly collapsed on his way back from a gig and was immediately rushed down to UCH for treatment. It was gathered that the Ibadan-based musician was placed on oxygen and admitted to the Intensive Unit of the hospital before he died earlier today.

Fondly known as Easy Sawaba the veteran Fuji musician was a native of Ile Aperin, Ibadan, Oyo State. Born in Ghana on, 11 November 1951, the highlight of his career in the music industry was in the 1970s and 1980s, as he was a great force to reckon in the industry.

Based on reports, he has been credited to have released over 20 albums. He became more popular with his leading role among the then younger generation of Fuji musicians who supported the late Fuji icon, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister when the supremacy rivalry between the former and General Kollington Ayinla was red hot.

He released his latest album, Correction, in 2018 at 67.
