Nigeria to lose Commonwealth Games gold medal after female athlete fails drug test

A member of the quartet that won gold for Nigeria in the 2022 Commonwealth Games 4×100 relay, has failed a doping test.

This could lead to Nigeria losing the gold medal won in the event.

Tobi Amusan, Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Grace Nwokocha were the four sprinters that ran the race.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) had been notified of the development by the World Anti-Doping Agency, with the confirmation of the B sample is still being awaited.

As a rule, the team would be stripped of the medal and the performance, if the athlete is not exonerated.

However, the identity of the athlete is being kept under wraps for now, until investigations are concluded.
