Son of ex-QPR footballer Rafel Jeanne and star of Sky reality show Eve Smith killed in horror Cardiff smash as two others fight for their lives
The son of a former Cardiff City footballer and a woman who starred in a Sky reality TV show after her sister was killed by a drug driver in 2015 are among three people who died in a South Wales car crash that also left two people seriously injured.
The white Volkswagen Tiguan carrying Sophie Russon, 20, Eve Smith, 21, and Darcy Ross, 21, Rafel Jeanne, 24, and Shane Loughlin, 32, was discovered in trees just yards off the A48 in Cardiff in the early hours of this morning – and may have been there unnoticed for 48 hours, MailOnline can reveal.
Rafel Jeanne, who died, is the son of former Cardiff City and QPR footballer Leon Jeanne, who was once dubbed Wales’ most promising footballer but who turned to crime after an addiction to cocaine.
The relatives and friends of ‘bubbly and beautiful’ Eve Smith today confirmed she has died – in a double tragedy for the family. Her older sibling Lauren Doyle wrote on Facebook: ‘I will not comment on anyone other than Eve Smith to confirm that she has been confirmed as deceased’.
Eve’s sister Xana was killed in a car crash in January 2015 caused by a male driver who was drunk while high on cocaine and cannabis, MailOnline has learned. Eve and her family appeared in a Sky documentary ‘This is Our Family’ calling for tougher sentences for dangerous drivers and followed by a camera crew for three years.
Police are today probing if the car lay undiscovered for 48 hours off one of South Wales’ busiest roads, with two people alive and three dead with them. Firefighters were seen carrying stretchers and cutting equipment towards the car this morning.
