Ismail Maihanci was is a Nigerian Politician and a business magnate.

He was currently a Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku.

Career

Maihanci started his political journey from a tender age during the Governor Jolly Nyame regime. He was loved and respected by all the politicians he had served with.

He had served as the Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Taraba State.

He had worked closely with Late Governor Danbaba Suntai and his relationship with the current Governor Darius Ishaku made so many people speculate that he would likely succeed the Governor, being that the ticket will be zoned to the northern zone of the state.

In 2019, he contested for the seat of the Member of the Federal House of Representatives to represent Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency but lost to Hon. Hassan Bappa.

He is currently a Special Adviser to Gov. Darius Ishaku.

He has been seen as the main force that lead to the emergence of Albasu Kunini as the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly after the resignation of Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah.

How he died weeks to swearing in

Hon. Ismail Maihanci who is a member-elect of Jalingo, Yorro and Zing, Federal Constituency in Taraba State, has died. His demise was disclosed by a presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, on Twitter this morning April 22.

Posting via his handle, Bashir wrote

”Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un! Just received a sad news about the passing of our brother, Hon. Ismail Maihanci, a member-elect of Jalingo, Yorro and Zing, Federal Constituency in Taraba State. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannah al-Firdaus.

Family sources say the politician who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP died in the early hours of Saturday, April 22, after a brief illness.

He was currently a Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku.
