JAMB shares ‘original’ result of Ejikeme Mmesoma

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shared the UTME result slip of Ejikeme Mmesoma with the public amid the forgery allegation against her.

Since the release of the 2023 UTME results, Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, has been attracting accolades from many Nigerians for allegedly being “the top scorer”.

JAMB, however, alleged that she manipulated her result to “deceive the public to fraudulently obtain a scholarship and other recognitions”.

In a statement on Sunday, the exam body said the student “actually got 249 in the exam and not 362”.

But the student dismissed the allegation in a viral video on Monday. She also displayed her UTME slip to buttress her point.

In an interview with Channels TV on Tuesday, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, shared the student’s result to support the board’s stance on the matter.

While the result slip being paraded by Mmesome showed she got 362, JAMB revealed that the student got 249 in the exam.

Checks on both results showed that there was inconsistency in the student’s month of birth.

While the allegedly forged result showed Mmesoma was born on March 2, 2004, the one released by JAMB revealed she was given birth to on April 2, 2004.

The board earlier revealed that the slip presented by the student was no longer in use.

“The public is also to note that the Board stopped issuing Notification of Result slips after the 2021 UTME for the simple reason that candidates were falsifying them. Consequently, the Board has been issuing actual UTME RESULT Slips (not notification of results ) since 2022 complete with the photograph of each candidate,” JAMB said.

“Similarly, the public is also invited to ponder on the fact that out of all the candidates that sat the 2023 UTME, only Ms. Ejikeme Mmesoma parades the obsolete ‘Notification of Result.”
