Men with beards are more likely to be ‘unhygienic cheats ‘ – and those with goatees are fond of a punch-up or two. That’s according to a new survey which has found the the UK’s love affair with facial hair may be on the wane.Research conducted by Censuswide revealed that 65% of women were unhappy with bearded men, and half saying they wouldn’t consider dating a man with scruff on his mug.
The survey, conducted by Eva , said that nearly half of women surveyed – 44% – feel that big beards are unhygienic and a massive 62% of women said they preferred the clean-shaven look. Of men questioned, 45% of men with a goatee said they’d been involved in a fight – and a further 40% of goatee guys admitted to having stolen.A massive 47% – almost half – of those with long moustaches said they’d been unfaithful to a partner , while just 20% of clean-shaven chaps had.
But there’s some respite for gents who are worrying about their salt and pepper locks as they age – more than a third – 35% – of females asked said they’d rather see a man with grey hair rather than a big bushy beard.
Jens Wikholm, fashion photographer and Co-founder of Eva, said: “Fashion changes so quickly, the beard trend is one that comes in every decade or so, but we might be seeing the end of current beard cycle.
“It definitely seems that women seem to prefer the clean shaven look and fashion will respond to that.”
