Nigerian actress and filmmaker Ufuoma McDermott has revealed her challenging journey with kidney disease, which reached a critical point with a diagnosis of Stage 4 kidney disease last year.
After battling health issues for over a decade, Ufuoma’s condition escalated from Stage 3 to Stage 4 due to delays in treatment, marking a turning point in her life and career.
Ufuoma attributes her condition to the excessive use of painkillers, leading to complications that severely impacted her health. She faced a life-threatening struggle, including six months of immobility and weight loss, which left her uncertain about her future. In a candid interview, Ufuoma shared her experiences of navigating her acting and production career while managing the intense physical and emotional toll of her illness.
For the first time, she also disclosed her decision to live abroad with her family while continuing to work in Nigeria. This shift has allowed her a greater focus on her health and well-being, balancing her public career with a more private family life.
