Nigeria’s leading airline, Air Peace, has promoted Senior First Officer Chibuzo Mbanefo to the esteemed rank of Captain on its Boeing 777 fleet.
Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, confirmed the promotion in a statement, highlighting Captain Mbanefo’s exceptional skill, leadership, and commitment to maintaining the airline’s high operational standards.
After completing rigorous training and meeting all regulatory requirements, Mbanefo’s promotion reinforces Air Peace’s dedication to nurturing top-tier aviation professionals.
During the official ceremony, Capt. Gerald Udaya praised Mbanefo’s performance, noting his 4,800 flight hours on the B777 and successful completion of the command upgrade program. The event was marked by the symbolic epaulette change, conducted by Air Peace Chairman/CEO Dr. Allen Onyema and Chief Operating Officer Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide.
Captain Mbanefo, in an emotional speech, expressed gratitude to the Chairman, his family, and the airline’s management for their unwavering support throughout his career. He recalled his journey from flight dispatcher to cadet, then First Officer, and now Captain—an achievement driven by his passion for the Boeing 777.
