Reality TV star and actress Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam, has opened up about her harrowing childbirth experience.

TSB News recalls that Bambam and her husband, Teddy A, welcomed their first child, Zendaya, in 2020, less than a year after their wedding.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Me & My Girls podcast, Bambam described her first childbirth as traumatic, revealing that she suffered severe complications, including kidney failure and the shutdown of vital organs.

She emphasized that many stillbirths result from medical negligence, stating,

“A lot of stillbirths are due to negligence. It’s either the doctor was not competent, the nurse delayed, or the patient arrived at the hospital too late.”

Recounting her near-death experience, she added,

“During my first labor, my kidney failed, my heart was weak, my liver—everything was shutting down because of childbirth. My daughter had detached from the placenta. If I had arrived a second later, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth.”

Bambam admitted that the traumatic experience haunted her for a long time, saying,

“Every time I look at her, I think, ‘What if…?’ The ‘what ifs’ tormented me. They haunted me so much that I had to seek therapy to help me focus on gratitude.”

Her story sheds light on the importance of proper maternal healthcare and the dangers of medical negligence during childbirth.
