Former presidential candidate Peter Obi paid a heartfelt condolence visit to Plateau State on Sunday, April 13, following a wave of deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area that claimed several lives and displaced hundreds of residents.

Obi first met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos, before heading to Bokkos, where he visited internally displaced persons (IDPs), including women and children affected by the tragic violence.

“What has happened in these communities is very saddening and utterly unacceptable. Nigerians should not be killed or forced to flee their homes when we are not at war. Every life is precious,” Obi stated.

During his visit, Peter Obi donated ₦7.5 million to aid the ongoing education of displaced children and provide essential facilities for the IDP camp, including food, shelter, and medical care.

He also praised the Obidient Movement for their earlier contribution of a borehole that now provides clean drinking water to the camp and surrounding areas.

Obi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and stressed the need for compassionate leadership during times of crisis.

“My heart is with the people of Bokkos, the displaced children, women, and entire communities during this difficult time,” he said.

Reaffirming his dedication to peace and recovery efforts in Plateau State, Obi added:

“Now, more than ever, leadership and compassion are essential. I stand in solidarity with Plateau State.”

He ended his visit with a message of hope:

“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may the people find strength, comfort, and unity as they rebuild their lives.”
