England manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that his mother finds Jude Bellingham’s on-pitch behaviour “repulsive,” following the midfielder’s angry outburst after England’s 3-1 defeat to Senegal.
Bellingham kicked a water cooler and confronted the fourth official after a disallowed goal.
Tuchel admits the Real Madrid star’s fiery attitude can intimidate teammates, but insists his passion is essential if England hopes to win the World Cup.
“He has fire, and I don’t want to dim that. But it must be channelled – not against referees or teammates.”
Bellingham’s aggressive behaviour has made headlines before – from swearing at officials in La Liga, to clashing with coaches during Euro 2024. Still, Tuchel believes the 21-year-old is a “special player” who brings a unique edge to the team.
To support squad balance, Tuchel has recalled veteran Jordan Henderson, citing his leadership and influence on the group.
Despite ongoing criticism, Tuchel stands by both players and says he may stay on as England boss beyond the 2026 World Cup.
