Nigerian actor and content creator, Odira Nwobu, has been reported dead, sparking shock across social media.
The tragic news was first shared on Facebook on Monday by blogger and content creator Awuzie Frankline, who posted a video showing Nwobu lying lifeless.
Frankline did not disclose the exact circumstances surrounding the alleged death, but reports claim the actor died just hours after clubbing in South Africa over the weekend.
In his emotional post, Frankline wrote:
“God why! ODIRA why leave us… The call I received now was not a good one. #Odiegwu.”
He later added:
“You were full of life some hours ago in South Africa, and you even had your thanksgiving service just a few months ago. Many people came to celebrate with you. How can you return from South Africa lifeless? I am drowning in tears. De@th is rude. I am heartbroken.”
Comedian Evan Okoro also expressed disbelief, sharing Nwobu’s picture with the caption:
“No, I can’t believe this… noooo.”
A few months earlier, Nwobu made headlines after surviving a ghastly car accident, which was captured in a viral video showing bystanders pulling victims from the wrecked vehicle.
As of the time of this report, Nwobu’s family is yet to release an official statement confirming his passing or providing details about what happened.
