A Cairo-bound EgyptAir airliner which was hijacked has landed at Larnaca airport in Cyprus. The domestic flight travelling from Alexandria to Cairo was taken over by at least one armed hijacker. The Airbus A320 has more than 80 passengers on board. There are indications that the hijackers are planning to release some hostages believed to be women and children. They asked security operatives to steer clear of the region to facilitate the release of the hostages. It is also believed there could be a bomb on board. The hijackers have not made any requests.
