The Kwara State police command is on the trail of a young man said to be a franchise officer with MTN who allegedly stabbed his lover, Tosin Ashinwo, who also worked with MTN as an online customer representative, to death and inflicted serious injury on her mother in Ilorin, early Monday.
He allegedly killed her over her refusal to his marriage proposal. It was gathered that the young man also allegedly stabbed Tosin’s mother, who had come to settle the dispute between them. The mother luckily escaped the attack with serious injuries and was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).
Investigations revealed that the duo, who had reportedly been going out for some time, had also been having serious argument over issue of marriage, with Tosin aways insisting that she could not marry the man because he allegedly went out with several other women at the same time.
It was gathered that they went out on Sunday night and returned to Tosin’s house at Tanke, Ilorin, where the mother had also come on a visit to her daughter. Early on Monday, the argument resurfaced with Tosin still maintaining her position, but the man was alleged to have threatened to kill her if she refused his proposal.
It was at the height of the argument that Tosin’s mother reportedly came out of her room with the intention of settling the dispute. The young man was said to have dashed to the kitchen where he allegedly brought out a knife with which he attacked the two women.
People who saw the corpse of Tosin, said to be in her 30s, said she was stabbed several times on the neck and around her armpit. The spokesman for the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident, saying that the command was already on the trail of the suspect
