Perfectionist: She was definitely hands-on with the exciting project as she even sketched out her idea for the shades herself

The 28-year-old singer was featured in the first images of her soon-to-be released sunglasses collaboration with Dior. She has joined forces with the luxury French label for the second time to design a new futuristic eyewear collection simply called Rihanna, which was inspired by LeVar Burton’s character Geordi La Forge from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Out of this world! Rihanna was featured in the first images of her soon-to-be released sunglasses collaboration with Dior

Regarding her latest venture in high-fashion, the Barbadian-born beauty told WWD online: ‘I’ve always been obsessed with his [La Forge] eye wear, and when I got to Dior and saw all the materials I could play with, it all just came together.

‘The process was pretty seamless. I spent a day at Dior with their eyewear design team. I started by looking through all the archives to see what they’ve done in the past, then got acquainted with all the new materials. ‘

Choices: There will six colours including a 24-karat gold-plated edition for $1,950, as the range will be available exclusively at Dior stores next month

She was definitely hands-on with the exciting project as she even sketched out her idea for the shades herself.  She explained:

‘I literally sat there and drew and drew until I was happy with the design, and the team illustrated it for me right then and there. We picked materials and colours that same day, and after that it was a matter of weeks before I saw the first prototype.’

Although this is Rihanna’s first creative project with the fashion house, singer previously partnered with the designer label last year when she starred in the labels Secret Garden IV campaign.

The Love On The Brain hitmaker has been an ambassador, much like Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence, for the designer brand since 2015. Speaking about the partnership with Rihanna, Dior’s CEO Sidney Toledano said:

‘We are very pleased to partner for the second time with Rihanna. She is an artist, an entertainer, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a style icon for today’s generation.’
